Kim

Photobucket

I think all of us have a love hate relationship with the fashion world. Sometimes, it gets to be too much for some of it's most talented people.

We didn't read her blog because she was beautiful or that she was famous. We read it because she was a smart, funny and an interesting human being who had a lot of potential.

Bande à Part

Photobucket

To compliment the strength of our Filippa K men's basics, we decided to carry selections from Band of Outsiders that reinterprets the classic looks and fits of 1960s European fashions with a casual American attitude.

We are so excited we want to do the classic dance from the film!

This fall season, Scott Sternberg, who is as big a Jean-Luc Godard fan as I am, was inspired by one of Godard's socialist masterpieces, La Chinoise. The film features the filmmakers on-going color themes of red, white, blue and yellow as does Sternberg's collection.

Images of what we have coming soon.... (apologies, I broke my camera and I am replacing it soon).

Not too long ago we received our first piece of fan mail for our blog! Thanks to Christina Johansson for putting a smile on our faces here at the shop. Whenever you are in San Francisco, stop by. We are becoming a big fan of yours too! :)

Party Time!

Photobucket

Filippa K SF is having a trunk show next Friday for another young design company that we believe in, Zuriick. Launched in November 2007, Zuriick is the collaborative effort between two friends, Clark Butterfield and Mike McCaleb. We easily fell for the slim, colorful, vegan friendly canvas shoes with those bright purple soles. Many of us here at the store have been biking, skating, dancing and living in them since we started carrying them early this year.

Here's the info for next week's party:

We will also have guest DJ EberRAD (and me, White Mice!) spinning all night long!

Le Petit Prince

Photobucket

Mais les yeux sont aveugles. Il faut chercher avec le cœur-from Antoine de Saint Exupéry's "The Little Prince"

Our beloved Alix left us to venture off to academia (in Utah!). We know it isn't a permanent goodbye, but it has been feeling a bit empty here without him. Everyone here at the store wishes him luck in school and awaits his return. We know that though we cannot see him with our eyes, we can still feel him in our hearts.

We love you very much, Alix.

Men's Fall: Josh

Photobucket

Josh is wearing the washed pocket shirt in black ($209), Samuel black denim jeans ($219), the wash jersey tee in claystone ($99) and his own shoes, which have been colored rust-red from his recent travels in Australia.

Photobucket

He pairs the same jeans and tee with our new merino jersey button v-neck in dark navy ($199).

Photobucket

Josh is 6'2" and normally wears a small top and size 46 trousers. Although, he is often found pulling, tugging and stretching his tees so that they have a perfectly draped, stretched fit that looks impeccable on him (see the first picture).

Thanks to this cutie for patiently modeling for the blog! We love him!!!

About Us

Located in the heart of the city at 66 Kearny Street, the new store is the 42nd Filippa K store to open worldwide. Designed by Aaro Arkitekter along with founder and creative director Filippa Knutsson. Filippa K’s San Francisco location is the first store to be built in a new, revised store concept inspired by the brand’s core values of artistic minimalism and dedication to architecture. Adjacent to Maiden Lane, one of the city’s stylish shopping district areas, the 2,000 square foot space transforms a former bank with lofty ceilings into a relaxing, calm atmosphere that exudes a warm sense of understated style. “We have been looking at the US market for a long time and are excited to start the US expansion in San Francisco since the city has so many coherent values with those of Filippa K. I have been very involved in the creation of the new concept which very much represents my personal taste in architecture, art and interior design.” says Filippa Knutsson, Creative Director.
